It’s that time of year to start planting seeds for the coming season, so I have been busy making these simple DIY seed pots.
We are always trying to re-use or recycle as much as we can, so when it came to finding seed pots I decided to make my own DIY seed pots. These are amazingly simple to make with the added advantage that you can plant them straight into the ground when the plants are ready to go out as they will biodegrade.
I started by collecting the inside of loo rolls. Then I squashed them in half length-ways and half again to make the cylinder more like a square. I cut the rolls in half so I had 2 equal length tubes.
The next step was to make 4 cuts a little way up the roll on the corner folds. All that was left to do was food the flaps under to create a firm bottom for the pot.
I filled the little DIY seed post with potting compost and planted my seeds. I have kept them moist (but not wet) and on a sunny window sill in the house. The seeds are shooting up, so now I just have to plan the right spot to plant them out!
